Marshmallow DNA

Teach your class about the basic structure of DNA through this sweet and sticky lesson, where students create a DNA model out of marshmallows and toothpicks. Students will learn some key vocabulary to describe their DNA as well as the complementary base pairing rule.

Recommended for Years 4 – 6.

DNA Extraction Experiment

Students often find DNA difficult to understand as it is something that usually cannot be seen with the naked eye. However, this exciting experiment will allow your students to extract DNA from strawberries and view it! The lesson includes a Lab Report template for students to record their observations.
