The Kids Discovery Centre is offering a brand-new program of fun and engaging workshops for kids during the Term 3 School Holidays.
Designed for kids in Years 3-6 (ages 7 - 12), the workshops cover a range of topics in science and health, and involve practical investigations delivered by one of our very own The Kids researchers. Plus, your kids will get to see a real-life working lab and spend some time exploring the interactive games at our Discovery Centre!
Each workshop costs $15 per child and runs for 1.5 hours. Workshops are held at The Kids Research Institute Australia, Perth Children’s Hospital. There are limited spaces available, so book early to avoid disappointment!
Poo and You!
Have you ever wondered how the food we eat travel through our bodies and give us the energy we need? Learn all about the different organs that make up our digestive system in this fun and messy workshop where you’ll get to model the journey from food to poo. It’s a rather sticky and slightly gross process – but lots of practical fun! This workshop will be delivered by one of our gut microbiome researchers.

Power of Our Lungs
Our lungs do a lot of amazing things for our bodies, including allowing us to breathe. In this workshop, you will get to build and take home your very own lung model to learn about how our lungs work. You’ll also get to make some gooey slime to investigate how scientists are trying to stop slime from damaging the lungs of kids with chronic respiratory illnesses. This workshop will be delivered by researchers from our Children’s Lung Health team.

Ear Explorers
Put on your Safari hats and let’s explore our ears! We’ll start the workshop by learning about how we use our ears to hear. You’ll get to create and take home your very own ear drum model as you investigate which sounds and instruments can make the ear drum vibrate. Then our researchers will use their special technology so you can take a look inside your own ear. This workshop will be delivered by researchers from our Ear Health team.
